Shape the Future of Retail Credit Risk at Lloyds Bank

We are looking for a seasoned leader to head our Credit Risk Control team within the second line Credit Risk Control Unit (CRCU). This is a pivotal role in strengthening our risk management capabilities as we expand our Dutch and German retail lending portfolios.

You will lead a team of experts responsible for maintaining a robust policy framework, overseeing credit risk across the retail lifecycle, and embedding our risk appetite into all processes. You’ll also play a key role in supporting new product and process initiatives, ensuring risk is managed proactively and effectively.

A Day in Your Role Might Include:

  • Reviewing portfolio updates and identifying emerging credit trends.
  • Collaborating with product teams on new initiatives, ensuring risk factors are addressed.
  • Leading team huddles to discuss regulatory developments and their impact.
  • Engaging with collections teams to assess regulatory changes on customer processes.
  • Coaching team members in 1:1 sessions to support their growth.
  • Ensuring efficient loan approval processes for larger retail exposures.
  • Aligning with analytics teams on quarterly priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Preparing for stakeholder sessions on digital innovation in retail lending.

Your Team and Environment

  • You’ll join the Risk Management & Controlling (RM&C) department, a dynamic group of over 50 financial risk professionals. Within CRCU, your team plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating credit risks while driving value creation across the bank.

Your Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
    Lead and grow a high-performing team across Amsterdam and Berlin. Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and resilience, while mentoring colleagues to align with strategic goals.
  • Risk Management
    Ensure a consistent and transparent credit risk framework across products and geographies. Support first line initiatives, maintain regulatory compliance, and integrate ESG into risk practices.
  • Technology & Innovation
    Drive scalable, data-driven solutions. Champion automation and stay ahead of industry and regulatory developments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    Collaborate across teams to ensure policy alignment and process efficiency. Provide training, share insights, and represent CRCU in senior management discussions.

Who You are

 Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. economics, statistics, engineering, mathematics).


Experience & Knowledge

  • 6+ years in financial risk roles, with 2+ years in team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of retail credit risk across the customer lifecycle.
  • Experience with mortgage and personal loan products.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g. MaRisk, EBA GLOM, DoD, Forbearance).
  • Proven stakeholder management across organizational levels.


Skills & Capabilities

  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proactive, analytical, and solutions-oriented.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communicator in English; Dutch or German is a plus.
